‘Knives Out 2’ Is Officially Titled ‘Glass Onion’

Writer-director Rian Johnson has finally revealed the official title for the upcoming sequel to his 2019 film Knives Out, and it is just as mysterious as Knives Out was when that title was first announced.

Knives Out 2 will now (and forever) be known as Glass Onion. What does it mean? I don’t know, but here’s the title announcement video Johnson posted to his personal Twitter.

Personally, I love the title. However, I absolutely loathe the subtitle. A Knives Out Mystery is just freaking unnecessary. If anything, it should be A Benoit Blanc Mystery because Daniel Craig’s super sleuth is the connective tissue between installments. This is like when they added The Twilight Saga or The Hunger Games ahead of each respective sequel since the book titles had “non-franchise titles” because the audience is so dumb that they can’t tell if two films are part of the same franchise unless the titles are damn near the same. So yeah, those are my thoughts on Glass Onion and its dumb subtitle.

The upcoming murder-mystery film features the return of Craig’s Benoit Blanc who will be tasked with solving a case in Greece. His suspect list includes Edward Norton, Janelle Monáe, Dave Bautista, Kathryn Hahn, Leslie Odom Jr., Kate Hudson, Jessica Henwick, and Madelyn Cline.

Glass Onion will stream on Netflix later this year.

What are your thoughts on the title? Do you hate A Knives Out Mystery as much as I do?
