Margot Robbie-Led ‘Pirates Of The Caribbean’ Film Shelved at Disney

Margot Robbie has revealed that her Pirates of the Caribbean spinoff film has been canceled at Disney.

The actor gave the disappointing (for some) update in a recent interview with Vanity Fair. Here’s the quote:

“We had an idea and we were developing it for a while, ages ago, to have more of a female-led—not totally female-led, but just a different kind of story—which we thought would’ve been really cool, but I guess they don’t want to do it.”

Robbie’s female-led Pirates of the Caribbean film was first announced in 2020. The film was expected to either be the franchise’s first spinoff film or the sixth installment in the main series. Disney hasn’t released a new PotC film since 2017’s Dead Men Tell No Tales, the last film to feature Johnny Depp’s Captain Jack Sparrow, who is unlikely to return to the franchise following a falling out with the Mouse House.

Do you think it’s time Disney and Depp make up and announce a proper Pirates of the Caribbean 6?
