By the power of Greyskull! Amazon MGM‘s Masters of the Universe movie has found its He-Man!

Nicholas Galitzine, who recently starred in the Prime Video rom-com The Idea of You, has been cast as He-Man, the alter ego of Prince Adam of Eternia. He is the first cast member announced for Amazon MGM’s Masters, but not the first actor cast as He-Man for this long-gestating reboot.

A reboot of Masters of the Universe has been in the works since 2007. Before Amazon MGM came aboard the project, Sony had cast Noah Centineo for its version while Netflix recruited Kyle Allen for its failed take. Galitzine looks set to go the distance, however, with Amazon MGM clearly making Masters a priority for the studio.

Travis Knight is set to direct Masters of the Universe from a screenplay by Chris Butler. Mattel Films’ Robbie Brenner and Escape Artists’ Todd Black, Jason Blumenthal, and Steve Tisch are producing.

Masters of the Universe began in 1982 with a line of action figures but became a globally recognized brand the following year when the animated series He-Man and the Masters of the Universe premiered on television. The franchise centers on Price Adam of Eternia who, thanks to his Power Sword, turns into He-Man and is embued with superhuman strength and abilities, which he uses to defend his native planet and Castle Grayskull.

Masters of the Universe is currently scheduled to hit theaters on June 5, 2026.

What do you think about Nicholas Galitzine as He-Man? Do you think he has what it takes to lead Masters of the Universe?
