Michael Shannon, Lady Gaga, Zazie Beetz, and Logan Lerman have all boarded Sony‘s Bullet Train this past week. Additionally, we now have brief character descriptions for some of the other previously cast actors.
Bullet Train, based on Kotaro Isaka’s Japanese book Maria Beetle, which centers on multiple assassins with conflicting motivations boarding the same bullet train in Tokyo, has been casting for a couple months now.
David Leitch (Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw) is directing the new action film. Zak Olkewicz, who wrote the upcoming movie adaptation of R.L. Stine’s Fear Street, is writing the screenplay.
Brad Pitt, who was the first to sign onto the project, will reportedly be playing an American hitman nicknamed “Ladybug.” Joey King (The Kissing Booth) will be playing “an unassuming teenaged assassin named Prince.” Aaron Taylor Johnson (Kick-Ass) is playing an assassin named Tangerine, and might also be playing Tangerine’s twin brother. Brian Tyree Henry, Andrew Koji, and Masi Oka round out the cast.
There is no word on who Shannon, Beetz, or Lerman are playing. Lady Gaga’s role is reportedly “a smaller supporting role rather than a lead.”
I’ve been following the casting of Bullet Train closely. I think the plot details are interesting, and the actors so far cast have me really excited. Heck, a part of me even wonders if this could be a stealth John Wick spin-off set in its universe. Leitch is involved after all, so would it kill him to have a Keanu Reeves cameo?
No release date has been announced for Bullet Train yet.
