Changes are afoot behind the scenes of Paramount Primal and Blumhouse Atomic Monster‘s upcoming horror movie Molepeople.

According to Variety, Ben Wheatley has replaced Rob Savage (Other Mommy) as director on Molepeople, which was announced earlier this month at New York Comic-Con. Savage, who had to depart due to scheduling conflicts, will remain on board as an executive producer. LaKeith Stanfield has also exited the movie as its main star. It’s unclear if his departure is linked to Savage’s exit.

Nathan Elston wrote the script for the horror movie about a man who descends into the abandoned tunnels beneath New York City, where he discovers a “twisted society lurking beneath the streets.” Molepeople is being co-financed and co-produced by Blumhouse Atomic Monster and Paramount Primal, with Paramount handling worldwide distribution.

Wheatley has built a reputation for bold, original storytelling. His past directorial efforts include Down Terrace, Kill List, High-Rise, Meg 2: The Trench, and, most recently, Normal starring Bob Odenkirk.

Molepeople is scheduled to hit theaters on August 27, 2027.
