Deadline is reporting that Netflix and Mattel Television are bringing you more He-Man with the CG animated series He-Man and the Masters of the Universe. The reimagining of the classic 80’s property will be produced by Adam Bonnett, Christopher Keenan and Rob David and will act as a companion show for Netflix’s Masters of the Universe anime series from Silent Bob Kevin Smith.
Plot Synopsis:
On the planet of Eternia, a young lost prince discovers the powers of Grayskull and transforms into He-Man, Master of the Universe! The classic battle between He-Man and evil Skeletor rages to new heights as both hero and villain forge new and mighty teams. A new generation of heroes fighting for the fate of us all. In the end, who will become Master of the Universe?
You had better be ready for He-Man overload, because it’s coming. So far we have two Netflix animated shows (I’m not counting She-Ra, either), a new comic book series by DC Comics, a planned film and a new line of toys set to hit the shelves late 2020. If you were alive in the early 80’s, you probably watched the cartoon, saw the movie and had the impossibly buff action figures, which had a whopping 6 points of articulation. So 2020 should be a big year for the Mattel property, though I doubt Frank Langella will reprise his role as the villain Skeletor in the new film.
Netflix’s He-Man and the Masters of the Universe does not have a release date, but stay tuned!
