Netflix Crime Thriller ‘The Whisper Man’ Gives Robert De Niro Some Co-Stars

Robert De Niro will be joined in The Whisper Man by a pair of actors who are currently appearing in two of the most talked about television shows right now.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Michelle Monaghan (The White Lotus) and Adam Scott (Severance) have joined De Niro in the upcoming Netflix crime thriller. Based on the best-selling novel of the same name by Alex North, The Whisper Man revolves around a widow crime writer who, after his 8-year-old son is abducted, looks to his estranged father, a retired former police detective, for help, only to discover a connection with the decades-old case of a convicted serial killer known as “The Whisper Man.”

Scott is playing the widowed author opposite De Niro’s former detective. Monaghan is the investigator leading the search for missing kids. James Ashcroft is set to direct the feature from a screenplay written by Ben Jacoby and Chase Palmer.

Anthony Russo, Joe Russo, Angela Russo-Otstot, and Michael Disco are producing for AGBO. The Russos’ involvement in a Netflix movie is the first sign of trouble, but since neither of them are directing nor writing The Whisper Man, I’m hoping this might end up turning out better than The Electric State.

Production on The Whisper Man is set to start this spring on the East Coast, likely in New Jersey.
