Universal has released a new official trailer for The Black Phone. Let’s take a look and see what the director of Sinister has in store for horror audiences this time around.
It’s been a while since I went to the theater to see a horror movie (okay, that’s a lie, I saw the new Scream), but this looks good. Besides, I got to support original-ish movies when they are available.
The Black Phone stars Mason Thames, Madeleine McGraw, and Ethan Hawke. Scott Derrickson (Doctor Strange) directed from a script he co-wrote with C. Robert Cargill (Sinister). The film is adapted from a short story written by Joe Hill.
Plot Synopsis:
Finney Shaw, a shy but clever 13-year-old boy, is abducted by a sadistic killer and trapped in a soundproof basement where screaming is of little use. When a disconnected phone on the wall begins to ring, Finney discovers that he can hear the voices of the killer’s previous victims. And they are dead set on making sure that what happened to them doesn’t happen to Finney.
The Black Phone hits theaters June 24, 2022.
