Nicholas Hoult Joins ‘Mission: Impossible’ Sequels, Reportedly as a Villain

The cast for Mission: Impossible 7 and Mission: Impossible 8 continues to grow. Nicholas Hoult is the latest actor to join the upcoming action sequels, and word is he’s playing a villain.

Director Christopher McQuarrie announced the casting on his Instagram:

McQuarrie captioned the picture of Hoult with “Say, @nicholashoult, care to raise a little hell?” Hoult responded on his account with the same picture and “Love to. Though why stop at a little? @christophermcquarrie #MI78.”

If the above exchange didn’t already get you thinking his character would be a villain, THR reports that he will be playing one. He’s got some high expectations to meet, especially in creating a new Mission: Impossible GIF. Cavill reloading his arms will always go down as one of the best parts of Fallout.

Every new Mission: Impossible film continues to one-up the last installment in terms of scope, action, stunts, and casting. I don’t know what series lead Tom Cruise will be doing in these next films, but let’s hope he doesn’t have new cast members Hoult, Hayley Atwell, Shea Whigham, and Pom Klementieff doing anything too crazy.

Mission: Impossible 7 hits theaters July 23, 2021. Mission: Impossible 8 hits theaters August 5, 2022.

Do you think Hoult will be a worthy villain to Cruise’s Ethan Hunt?
