‘Outer Banks’ Trailer: What if the Goonies Were Dark and Sexy?

If the subtitle in that headline didn’t have you immediately clicking to watch the trailer, I think my journalism days are over.

Anyway, Netflix has released the official trailer for Outer Banks, which everyone on the internet is referring to as “sexy Goonies“. And after watching the trailer I can confirm that it is exactly that.

I’m not even going to lie, I’d watch this. I think the trailer is painting this a tad too “YA”, but I’m digging the “hunting for $400 million in gold” part. The cast is full of unknowns (aside from Charles Esten) which means that this could very well end up as this generation’s Dawson’s Creek or Gossip Girl. That is, if Outer Banks is a breakout success for the streaming service.

Plot Synopsis:

A coming of age story that follows a tight-knit group of local teens (the ‘Pogues’) in the beach vacation destination of the Outer Banks of North Carolina. When a hurricane kills the power for the summer season, it sets off a chain of illicit events that force the friends to make life-altering decisions. The search for their ringleader’s missing father, forbidden romances, a high-stakes treasure hunt, and the escalating conflict between the Pogues and their rivals turn their summer into one filled with mystery and adventure they’ll never forget.

Outer Banks begins streaming April 15, 2020 on Netflix.
