Last night at D23, Pixar talked about its upcoming film slate. Here’s all the good stuff from that presentation.
Incredibles 3
Whereas The Incredibles was about Bob and Incredibles 2 about Helen, Incredibles 3 will focus on the two eldest kids, Violet and Dash, as they prove themselves capable of following in their parents’ footsteps as superheroes.
“They want to prove that they are ready to be real Supers, and their parents aren’t quite so convinced. So they’ve been sneaking out at night to protect the city, and it doesn’t go over so well at home. To make matters worse, they are struggling to contain Jack Jack…” said Pixar CCO Pete Docter. “A new threat is taking a heavy toll on Bob, who’s grappling with his own relevance in a world of Supers that may have outgrown him. Because even though Supers are legal again, that doesn’t mean all supers are good.”
Ghost Market
Pixar also unveiled the first footage from one of its next original movies, Ghost Market. Trevos Jimenez and Jesse Andrews are set to co-direct the film, which arrives in theaters on March 10, 2028.
Coco 2
Lastly, Coco 2 was confirmed for release in theaters on November 21, 2029. Benjamin Bratt took the stage at D23 to tell the crowd that he’s reprising his role as the spiritual legendary singer Ernesto de la Cruz, who is out for revenge against Miguel, who is now a teenager.
“He’s a little menace who ruined a career and destroyed a legend,” said Bratt, “Ernesto de la Cruz is back for revenge…proving that fate has twists.”
