Power Rankings: Biggest Movie Letdowns

The SAW Power Rankings is our weekly ranking of a certain movie-related topic. Please feel free to comment on our rankings and provide a list of your own in the comments below.

Last week we ranked movies that we weren’t really expecting much from but ended up surprising us by how much we enjoyed them. This week, we are ranking the opposite. Movies where we had high expectations and they let us down big time. Whether it’s through our own lofty expectations or the marketing hype train, we go into some movies with a certain level of certainty that they are going to be great. When they don’t end up meeting those expectations we can’t help but feel let down or cheated.

For me, Jason Goes to Hell will always be my number one let down. I grew up a massive Friday the 13th and more particularly, a Jason fan. I had watched part 1 through 8 numerous times before but The Final Friday was going to be the first one I was able to see in theaters. I was pumped. I settle in and get to see a great opening scene with a fantastic Jason design. Then he is blown up five minutes into the film and I don get to see him till the last five minutes of the movie…WHAT. THA. F. Right?! I didn’t get all excited to see some loser in a tie or bald short guy kill people. Give me Jason murdering fools in cool ways dammit! I have held on to my hatred for that to this day. It ain’t going away.

It Follows was your typically hyped “scariest movie since The Exorcist” or some bull crap and it did nothing for me. Technically well made with a great score but that was it. Nothing scary or horrifying at any moment. IT 2 was a massive let down with that cast and me thinking stupidly thinking we would get something actually creepy and more adult other than the 2017 comedy we got. We all feel Green Lantern. The only thing that could have saved Rocky V was a completely different script or Rocky at least knocking out his annoying son.
