Hollywood has been busy filling out the 2025 release calendar lately, so let’s run down all the major movies that just received a spot on next year’s release schedule.
First up, via Deadline, Lionsgate has dated the suspense thriller Hurry Up Tomorrow, starring The Weeknd, Jenna Ortega, and Barry Keoghan, for release on May 16, 2025.
Up next, also via Deadline, Paramount is moving The Running Man away from November 21, 2025, where it would have gone up against Wicked: For Good (fka Wicked: Part Two), to November 7, 2025. The studio has also dated Regretting You, based on the Colleen Hoover novel and starring Dave Franco and Mckenna Grace, for October 24, 2025, while removing the Dakota Fanning-led horror title Vicious off the calendar. It was previously set to be released on February 28, 2025, but Paramount wants to find a better date for the movie.
The last major release date news of 2025 is coincidentally all about Christmas (and via Deadline). Three wildly different movies have staked a claim to December 25, 2025 (a.k.a. Christmas Day). Lionsgate has the Paul Feig-directed thriller The Housemaid, starring Sydney Sweeney and Amanda Seyfried; A24 has the Timothée Chalamet-led ping-pong champ movie Marty Supreme; and Sony has the reimagined comedy Anaconda, starring Paul Rudd and Jack Black and directed by The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent‘s Tom Gormican. Rudd and Black announced the release date for the movie with a fun announcement video that can be viewed below.
Looking ahead, Sony has dated the Nia DaCosta-directed sequel 28 Days Later: The Bone Temple for a January 16, 2026 release. Variety has also reported that Sonic the Hedgehog 4 is in the works at Paramount, with a Spring 2027 release window being eyed by the studio.
