‘Scooby-Doo and Guess Who?’ Trailer Returns the Franchise to Its Roots

Boomerang has just released the series trailer for Scooby-Doo and Guess Who?, the new Scooby-Doo show that looks to return the franchise to its roots.

Look at that animation. It screams 70s/80s! I love it. It’s simple. It’s clean. It’s nostalgic. But most of all, it isn’t wacky and stupid like Be Cool, Scooby-Doo was.

While the animation style pays tribute to the original series Scooby-Doo, Where Are You?, the formula is pulled straight from The New Scooby-Doo Movies. Each episode will see Mystery Inc. teaming up with a famous individual. Confirmed guest stars include Wanda Sykes, Chris Paul, Sia, Halsey, Ricky Gervais, Kenan Thompson, Bill Nye, Neil deGrasse Tyson, Mark Hamill, Steve Urkel, Batman, Sherlock Holmes, the Flash, Wonder Woman, and the Ghost of Abraham Lincoln.

This should be a lot of fun. Scooby-Doo works best when it doesn’t stray too far from its formula. Although, that sentence I just wrote is full of shit since my favorite Scooby-Doo properties are the first four direct-to-video films (Zombie Island to Cyber Chase) and Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated, which broke from Scooby-Doo lore and brought us a darker and more mature take on the franchise.

Plot Synopsis:

Scooby-Doo and Guess Who? focuses on the Mystery Inc. gang as they solve bigger mysteries while also encountering many memorable celebrities, just like in The New Scooby-Doo Movies.

Scooby-Doo and Guess Who? premieres on the Boomerang streaming service and app June 27, 2019. The first season will consist of 13 episodes.
