ScreenAge Podcasts Orders Another Season of ‘The Canon’

On the heels of its Season 1 finale, ScreenAge Podcasts has renewed the Raf Stitt-hosted podcast, The Canon: An Essential Movies Watchlist, for a second season.

The film podcast premiered on April 5. In each episode, Stitt brings on one to three guests to discuss one of the entries in the ScreenAge Wasteland Canon — a collection of films from the dawn of cinema to today that SAW argues needs to be watched by any burgeoning cinephile.

The first 15-episode season tackled such classics as Raiders of the Lost Ark, Mad Max: Fury Road, Back to the Future, and Yojimbo. We hear that the second season will also consist of 15 episodes. Guests for the first season included Billy Dhalgren, Sailor Monsoon, Bob Cram, Romona Comet, Tim Quinn, Michael Ruocco, and Sean Ryan, among others.

Production on The Canon Season 2 is scheduled to commence before the end of the month with a Fall 2023 premiere being targeted by ScreenAge Podcasts.

“Screenagers across the wasteland have been loving every minute of The Canon since it launched in April,” said Marmaduke Karlston, Chief Creative Officer, ScreenAge Wasteland. “The Canon Pod has been a perfect companion to its eponymous print version and we cannot wait to see what Stitt has in store for Season 2.”

“I had such a great time making The Canon. And it’s a thrill to see how much people are enjoying it. I’m so glad I get to do it again!” added Stitt.

The Canon is hosted, edited, and produced by Stitt. Karlston, Dhalgren, K. Alvarez and Monsoon executive produce. It is available on Apple, Spotify, and wherever else you find your podcasts.
