Extraction franchise director Sam Hargrave is staying booked and busy.

With production on Extraction 3 set to kick off this summer in Australia, Hargrave has already booked what he’ll be doing after the Netflix sequel. According to Deadline, Hargrave will direct and produce It Had to Be You for Sony Pictures and Platinum Dunes.

Eliza Jane Brazier wrote the script, which is based on her novel of the same name. She will also be an executive producer. It Had to Be You follows two contract killers, each with a hit out on the other, who must fight their growing attraction as they face off in an epic game of lust and murder across Western Europe.

Hargrave began his career as a stuntman and stunt coordinator before making his directorial debut with Extraction (2020). He returned to direct Extraction 2 (2023). His next movie will be Matchbox: The Movie, which will be released on Apple TV this October.
