Back in May, we shared the first teaser for Saban Films new sci-fi thriller Vivarium. Now a few days ago an official trailer has been released.
The film premiered the Cannes Film Festival back on May 18, 2019 and has been generating a pretty good buzz so far. Directed by Lorcan Finnegan, whose last film Without Name looked to be an interesting horror-mystery-thriller.
The film looks to have a pretty simple set up. A young couple look to buy their forever home in a new development called Yonder. Yonder is basically a large grid of identical streets filled with identical cookie-cutter houses, with the same cookie-cutter backyards. Sounds alluring, doesn’t it? But as the trailer plays out, you realize this is no ordinary housing development. And if you know the definition of vivarium, it translates into “place of life”. “It is an area, usually enclosed, for keeping and raising animals or plants for observation or research.”
Needles to say, the performances by Jesse Eisenberg and Imogen Poots look to be pretty solid. But unfortunately I think this trailer gives away a little bit too much of the story. But it also doesn’t help that as I went to the Wikipedia page for the film, the entire synopsis is given and ruins the ending. So that didn’t help me much either. So if you are interested in seeing this STAY AWAY from that Wikipedia page.
Plot Synopsis:
Vivarium hits theaters March 27, 2020.
