‘Super Mario Bros.’ Movie Voice Cast Revealed: Chris Pratt and Charlie Day Are Mario & Luigi

The cast for the animated adaptation of Super Mario Bros. has been announced.

Variety reports that the cast was revealed at the streaming event Nintendo Direct. Chris Pratt and Charlie Day will lead the film as siblings Mario and Luigi, respectively. Anya Taylor-Joy will play Princess Peach while Jack Black has been cast as supervillain Bowser.

The rest of the cast includes Seth Rogen as Donkey Kong, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, Fred Armisen as Cranky Kong, Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek, and Sebastian Maniscalco as Spike.

Finally, Charles Martinet, who has voiced Mario since the 1990s, will have a cameo role in the movie.

The actors were cast for “their ability to capture the unique spirit of each of their iconic characters.”

Chris Meledandri, who is producing for Illumination, said the film will be “unlike any film Illumination has made to date.”

Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic (Teen Titans Go! To The Movies) are directing from a script by Matthew Fogel (The Lego Movie 2). Universal will distribute the film and co-finance the project with Nintendo.

Super Mario Bros. hits theaters December 21, 2022.
