Happy fall/early winter, screenagers! It’s finally getting colder, and it’s the month us Americans start thinking about turkey and being thankful. Well, this Thanksgiving I’m thankful for Tubi! Yes, the best streaming service: forever free, with a mixed bag of prestige classics and indie shlock, it always has something good to offer. Consider this the start of an annual tradition: Tubi Thanksgiving. Let’s see if I remember to do it next year.
Tubi: Holes (2003)

Possibly the best Disney Channel original film, Holes follows Stanley Yelnats IV as he is unfairly incarcerated at Camp Green Lake where he must dig one hole every day for nine months. Yes, this is a movie for children but frankly, it holds up and sets up one of the most interesting multi-thread stories that I keep coming back to. This one is a comfy cozy watch that’s perfect for a fall night at the end of a long week.
FOR FANS OF: Big Fat Liar; The Sandlot
Tubi: Haunters of the Silence (2025)

Shameless self-plug: I had the joy of interviewing the directorial couple behind this film and it’s still one I rave about. I even watched it again after receiving the screener just to make sure I wasn’t crazy, but this movie absolutely rules. A vibe-heavy experimental horror with almost no dialogue, those looking for something very weird and different will find this one a visual feast and a great fix for those looking to extend the spooky season just a few more weeks.
FOR FANS OF: The Deeper You Dig; It Comes at Night
Tubi: 12 Angry Men (1957)

One of the greatest films of all-time and here it is, for free on Tubi! If you’ve somehow lived under a rock, 12 Angry Men is the one-room drama about a jury voting to convict or acquit a young boy charged with murdering his father. What ensues is a powerful narrative about bias and conflict that holds up in today’s world just as well. Maybe one of the best performances from Henry Fonda, this one is worth a watch (or rewatch).
FOR FANS OF: Citizen Kane, Anatomy of a Fall
Tubi: Columbo (1968 – 2003)

Look, maybe I’m just a Columbo apologist, but I think every detective show has been trying to do what Columbo did and falling short. Columbo is a detective who presents as bumbling and a little lost, while all the while observing and catching the killer when they slip up. Most episodes show us the killer in the first scene, and follow them as they try to cover up and hide their crimes. It’s an insanely fun watch with a format that doesn’t get old.
FOR FANS OF: Monk; Psych
Tubi: The Joy of Painting With Bob Ross (1983 – 1994)

That’s right folks, thirty seasons of soft-spoken paint god Bob Ross are on Tubi at your disposal. I know you may not drop everything to go nostalgia-binge, but don’t you just feel better knowing that they’re there if you need them? I know I do.
