Variety has word that a television series reboot of the 1989 Tom Hanks classic Turner & Hooch is in early development at Disney+.
Matt Nix (The Gifted, Burn Notice) is attached to write and executive produce the series. 20th Century Fox TV is behind the re-imagination. The film followed Scott Turner, a “compulsively neat” detective whose “tidy world goes to the dogs when he’s forced to team up with a drooling slob of a junkyard dog named Hooch.”
Turner & Hooch is just the latest Fox property that Disney plans on rebooting for a new generation. The series joins the previously announced Home Alone reboot and new Planet of the Apes film.
There’s probably enough material to mine from this premise for a couple seasons worth of stories. However, just like with the Home Alone reboot, is anyone asking for this? I guess Disney wants to get their investment back from the Fox acquisition.
Are you a fan of the Tom Hanks 1989 film? Would you watch a TV sitcom on Disney+?
