Universal Sets New Release Dates for ‘The Bad Guys’, ‘Ticket to Paradise’ & ‘Knock at the Cabin’; Netflix Acquires ‘Earwig And The Witch’

Universal has set new release dates for three of its upcoming films.

The Bad Guys, an action-comedy from DreamWorks Animation, will hit theaters one week later than expected on April 22, 2022.

The animated film follows “a crew of animal outlaws, comprised of pickpocket Mr. Wolf (Sam Rockwell), safecracker Mr. Snake (Marc Maron), master-of-disguise Mr. Shark (Craig Robinson), short-fused “muscle” Mr. Piranha (Anthony Ramos) and expert hacker Ms. Tarantula (Awkwafina), as they attempt their most challenging con yet—becoming model citizens.”

Ticket to Paradise, a romantic-comedy reuniting stars George Clooney and Julia Roberts, has moved back three weeks from its previous release date. It will now open on October 21, 2022.

The romantic-comedy finds Clooney and Roberts playing “exes who find themselves on a shared mission to stop their lovestruck daughter from making the same mistake they once did.”

Meanwhile, he previously untitled M. Night Shyamalan film is now being called Knock at the Cabin. It will hit theaters on February 3, 2023. No plot details have been released at this time. It will be the fifth film between Shyamalan and Universal after The Visit, Split, Glass, and Old.

Lastly, Netflix has acquired worldwide streaming rights to Earwig and the Witch from Studio Ghibli. Although, there’s a catch. The film will not be made available to subscribers in the U.S. and Japan. For the rest of us, the film will begin streaming on November 18, 2021.

Earwig and the Witch tells the story of “a headstrong young girl who grew up in an orphanage. Her life changes dramatically when a strange couple takes her in, and she is forced to live with a selfish witch.”
