Shockingly, according to the weekend estimates almost none of the films on this week’s top ten are living up to expectations. Toy Story 4 may have earned the best opening in the franchise with an estimated $118 million weekend and the third-highest opening for an animated film, however, it is also much lower than expected. I wonder if sequelitis is really becoming a thing? Child’s Play (2019) came in second place on its opening weekend and made a paltry $14 million. Meanwhile Aladdin (2019) held string at third. I honestly didn’t expect this film to do that well and I was wrong. I can only imagine what kind of numbers The Lion King (2019) is gonna rake in. Men In Black: International took a hit and dropped from first to fourth and The Secret Life of Pets 2 went from second to fifth. Rocketman fell a couple of spots, while John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellumand Godzilla: King of the Monsters swapped spots at seventh and eighth. Dark Phoenix and Shaft (2019) look like they will both be out of the top ten by next week.

Quick edit to the post:

Avengers: Endgame‘s first run in theaters has officially surpassed Avatar‘s first run in theaters. With Endgame being re-released soon, it is guaranteed to beat Avatar’s re-release run in way less time. Only $26,648,464 to go!

I was working all weekend so I didn’t see anything new. What did you guys see this weekend?
