Question of the Day (QOTD) is exactly what it sounds like. It’s a film/TV-related question that we put to you, the reader. The comments section below is like the feedback box at work; except, in this example, we actually read what you write and care about what you have to say.
Well, I think we gave Daniel Craig’s final outing as James Bond enough of a grace period. It’s been almost a week since No Time to Die hit theaters stateside.
So, let’s just start talking about what is surely on everyone’s minds: who do you want to see play James Bond next?
I’m going to give a controversial answer that goes against my reasoning for why I think actors like Henry Cavill, Idris Elba, and Tom Hardy will never get the role. Simply, they are too famous.
Every actor who has been cast as Bond has been forever remembered as Bond. Pierce Brosnan? Bond. Roger Moore? Bond. Timothy Dalton? Bond. Daniel Craig? Unless he becomes Professor X or something in the MCU…Bond. Henry Cavill has already been Superman. Tom Hardy is Venom and Bane, and has starred in a lot of memorable roles. Same with Elba. I believe Eon wants someone that the audiences will only see as James Bond / 007.
Therefore, I’m going with Harry Styles. Yup, the singer. I thought he was good in Dunkirk. Also, by the time the next Bond film starts filming he will have at least two more films under his belt (Don’t Worry Darling and My Policeman). I know he is also too famous for the role, but that’s mostly because of his singing career. He hasn’t really had a breakthrough role yet, and Bond could be it.
I also think having Styles in the role might draw in a younger and more female audience. The Bond films have always played well with older, male audiences, so this is a chance to tap into a new demographic.
So my pick is Harry Styles. If not him, then give the role to Sam Heughan from Outlander.
