DC Films might have found its Blue Beetle.
Xolo Maridueña, who broke out to audiences as Miguel Diaz on Cobra Kai, is reportedly in talks with Warner Bros. and DC to play Jaime Reyes in Blue Beetle.
The Wrap reported the news.While a deal for him to star in Blue Beetle is not finalized, the report indicates that the young actor is clearly the studio favorite.
It was previously announced that Charm City Kings director, Angel Manuel Soto, will direct the movie. The upcoming film will focus on the third individual to take on the mantle, Jaime Reyes, a Mexican-American teenager who becomes the Blue Beetle after an alien scarab fuses with him and provides him with a suit of extraterrestrial armor. The armor can be modified to enhance his speed and strength, as well as to create weapons, wings and shields.
The film is being developed as a HBO Max original. No word yet on when production might start. We’ll keep you posted.
