Adam Sandler is reviving another one of his classics(?), as Grown Ups 3 is in the works at Netflix.
Netflix announced during its Upfront presentation on Wednesday that Grown Ups 3 was on the way. Kyle Newacheck will direct the sequel, having previously helmed Murder Mystery (2019) and Happy Gilmore 2 (2025), both of which starred Sandler.
Honestly, Happy Gilmore 2 is probably the only reason we’re finally getting Grown Ups 3. The sports comedy sequel was one of the biggest streaming titles of last year, setting a Nielsen record with 2.89 billion minutes viewed in its first week.
Sandler and Tim Herlihy are writing the screenplay. Sandler is also expected to star in the sequel alongside his buddies David Spade, Rob Schneider, Chris Rock, and Kevin James, although no casting has been officially announced yet.
The first Grown Ups, released in 2010, revolves around a set of childhood friends who are brought back together as adults over the course of a summer vacation. A sequel was released in 2013.
Both movies were major theatrical hits, grossing a combined $521 million worldwide. Netflix will likely release Grown Ups 3 straight to streaming, although the streamer is moving into theatrical with Greta Gerwig’s Narnia, so maybe a Sandler comedy will finally be seen on the silver screen again for the first time in over a decade.
We’ll keep you posted as more information about Grown Ups 3 is released.
