Netflix is not done milking Stranger Things yet, with the long-rumored live-action spinoff series officially a go at the streamer.

Per Netflix Tudum, Other Worlds: A Stranger Things Adventure has officially been greenlit, with a 2028 premiere window announced. It will be a prequel set in the 1950s, before both Stranger Things and the stage play Stranger Things: The First Shadow. Joe Wright will direct the first three episodes.

Production on Other Worlds will take place in New Mexico. Kate Trefry co-created the spinoff with the Duffer Brothers. Trefry is best known within the Stranger Things universe for penning the script for The First Shadow. She will also showrun and executive produce Other Worlds.

“We’ve been dreaming of Other Worlds: A Stranger Things Adventure for many years now, and to see it become a reality is surreal and exhilarating,” say Matt and Ross Duffer. “It’s Stranger Things, but also thrillingly fresh, with a new setting, new heroes and villains, and new … actually, we’re not allowed to say any more. Now, on to casting. In the meantime — watch the skies, nerds!”
