Two well-known actresses have just boarded Fast & Furious 10.
Brie Larson and Daniela Melchior are set to make their Fast debuts in the tenth instalment in The Fast Saga. Melchior’s casting was announced last month with no word on who she might be playing. Larson’s casting was revealed by franchise star Vin Diesel in an Instagram post on Sunday.
The picture was captioned with the following:
“Yeah yeah yeah… you see this angel over my shoulder cracking me up, you say to your self ‘that’s captain Marvel.’ Clearly there is love and laughter in this image. What you don’t see however, is the character you will be introduced to in Fast10. You have no idea how timeless and amazing she will be in our mythology. Beyond her beauty, her intellect… her Oscar, haha is this profound soul who will add something you might not have expected but yearned for. Welcome to the FAMILY Brie.”
The inclusion of the word “FAMILY” makes me think that Larson will be siding with the good guys (i.e., Dom’s family) in the upcoming sequel. No clue on who she might be playing, but I could buy her as Brian’s never-mentioned sister. After the reveal that Dom had an estranged brother (played by John Cena), nothing is off the table anymore.
Apparently, joining Fast & Furious has been something of a career dream for Larson. In an interview with Uproxx earlier this year, Larson revealed that she “would, of course, want to be in a Fast & Furious movie” claiming she was “obsessed” with the films. Well, it looks like she got her wish.
Jason Momoa previously joined the cast of the film as the villain a couple of months ago. Franchise mainstays Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, Sung Kang, and Charlize Theron are all expected to return for Fast 10.
The tenth Fast & Furious film hits theaters on May 19, 2023.
