Deadline is reporting that Chris Evans is nearing a deal to return to the MCU in the role of Captain America. Deadline states that it is “still vague if the deal is completely closed but insiders say its headed in that direction for Evans to return as Steve Rogers aka Captain America in at least one Marvel property with the door open for a second film.”
Sources add that it is unlikely to be a new Captain America film, and instead will be supporting appearances in other heroes’ films.
Marvel had no comment.
It will be interesting if this turns out to actually happen. Evans was clear that he was ready to move on to other roles after retiring as Captain America at the end of Avengers: Endgame. Of course, fans (except SAW commenter heligo) have also wanted to see a film or Disney+ series that covered Cap returning the Infinity Stones to their correct timelines.
Whatever happens, I am always down for one last hurrah for Evan’s turn as Captain America. Especially if it means that we can finally see Cap, Falcon, and the Winter Soldier together in a proper team-up film.
What do you think about Evans returning to the MCU as Cap for one or two more films? Do you think it will happen?
