Kevin Smith recently tweeted out the announcement that Clerks 3 is officially (finally) happening. There had been talks of this and Mallrats 2 in the past, but now we are a go.
With Jay and Silent Bob Reboot coming out later this month, it’s no surprise that this news is popping up. I think that for a while now Jeff Anderson was the holdout on making this third and final film in the series. But now that he is on board along with the rest of the core cast, he had this to say:
“It’ll be a movie about how a decades-spanning friendship finally confronts the future.”
There is no real word on when the film will begin to shoot, but it seems like Smith is hard at work on the script and anxious to begin. So we’ll see.
I know Clerks 2 kinda gets shit on, but I thought it was a fun return to the characters and to see how much (and how little) they’ve grown. So I’m all for a third stab at this world. I’m from NJ originally so I feel tied to it personally.
Jay and Silent Bob Reboot hits theaters October 15 and 17 through Fathom Events, with Smith and Mewes taking the movie on a roadshow tour through the rest of the year and into 2020.
What do you guys think? Interested in seeing this at all? Or are you over Kevin Smith and his films?
