Coyote vs. Acme will get a theatrical release after all.
Per Deadline, Ketchup Entertainment has completed a deal to purchase worldwide rights to Coyote vc. Acme from Warner Bros., who had originally shelved the movie for a tax write-off. The price tag is believed to have been around the $50 million mark.
“We’re thrilled to have made a deal with Warner Bros. Pictures to bring this film to audiences worldwide,” said Ketchup Entertainment CEO Gareth West in a statement. “Coyote vs. Acme is a perfect blend of nostalgia and modern storytelling, capturing the essence of the beloved Looney Tunes characters while introducing them to a new generation. We believe it will resonate with both longtime fans and newcomers alike”
What Is Coyote vs. Acme About?
Coyote vs. Acme will be the second Looney Tunes movie distributed by Ketchup, who released the fully-animated The Day the Earth Blew Up earlier this year. Directed by David Green, Coyote vs. Acme is a live-action/animation hybrid movie following Wile E. Coyote, who, after Acme products fail him one too many times in his dogged pursuit of the Roadrunner, decides to hire a billboard lawyer to sue the Acme Corporation. The case pits Wile E. and his lawyer (Will Forte) against the latter’s intimidating former boss (John Cena), but a growing friendship between man and cartoon stokes their determination to win. Lana Condor and Tone Bell also star in the movie.
Ketchup plans to release Coyote vs. Acme in theaters in 2026.
