The main cast for The Batman Part II was just confirmed by writer-director Matt Reeves.
In the last two days, DC fans watched as Reeves released two strings of gif-heavy casting confirmations on X. On Wednesday, he announced the following stars who were returning from The Batman for the sequel: Robert Pattinson as Batman, Jeffrey Wright as Jim Gordon, Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth, Colin Farrell as the Penguin, Jayme Lawson as Mayor Bella Reál, and Gil Perez-Abraham as GCPD officer Martinez.
Yesterday, he confirmed a few casting reports for The Batman Part II and made a few surprise announcements. Reeves first confirmed that Sebastian Stan, Scarlett Johansson, and Charles Dance had joined the cast. While the filmmaker did not disclose their roles, they are believed to be portraying Harvey Dent, his wife Gilda Dent, and his father Charles Dent, respectively.
Sebastian Koch and Brian Tyree Henry were then revealed to have been cast in undisclosed roles. Let the guessing begin, screenagers, as to who they might play!
The Batman Part II Is Finally Happening
It’s been a long time coming for The Batman Part II, which was originally slated to hit theaters in 2025 before being delayed twice. Reeves co-wrote the screenplay for the upcoming sequel with Mattson Tomlin.
Filming is scheduled to begin in June 2026 at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden, with Erik Messerschmidt as the cinematographer.
Reeves has assembled quite a cast for the long-awaited follow-up to his 2022 The Batman, which just so happens to feature four actors with some major comic book experience. Stan and Johansson are major players in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as The Winter Soldier and Black Widow, respectively, while Serkis played a minor villain.
Henry was being primed as the next major MCU hero with a key role in Eternals, but hard to say if he’ll ever be seen again. He does voice Jefferson Davis in the animated Spider-Verse films, though. Oh, and Farrell was Bullseye in Ben Affleck’s Daredevil movie. So yeah, a lot of comic book movie vets.
The Batman Part II is scheduled to hit theaters on October 1, 2027.
