Danny McBride isn’t just writing a new G.I. Joe reboot. He’s also directing it.

Per The Hollywood Reporter, McBride is attached to direct an untitled G.I. Joe feature for Paramount Pictures. It will serve as his feature directorial debut. The untitled reboot will be the fourth live-action G.I. Joe movie, after The Rise of Cobra (2009), Retaliation (2013), and Snake Eyes (2021).

Plot details are under wraps, although McBride told Happy Sad Confused earlier this month that it would take place in “Springfield, which is a town that’s secretly all COBRA.”

McBride wrote the screenplay for his G.I. Joe reboot with Jeff Fradley and John Carcieri, who worked with him on The Righteous Gemstones. No casting has been announced yet, although McBride indicated on Happy Sad Confused that they have “some pretty interesting people lining up to be in it.”

What do you think of McBride directing G.I. Joe? Do you think he can do the property justice?
