Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 has just added its first new cast member.
According to Deadline, Matthew Lillard has joined the cast of Daredevil: Born Again for its upcoming second season, which begins filming next week. Character details for Lillard are being kept under wraps. The casting comes less than a week before Daredevil: Born Again‘s Season 1 premiere on March 4.
Lillard is in the middle of a bit of a career renaissance, with the actor going back to his horror roots of late with roles in Five Nights at Freddy’s and the upcoming Scream 7. He’ll be seen next in Cross Season 2 and Mike Flanagan’s The Life of Chuck, as well as Five Nights at Freddy’s 2.
What Is Daredevil: Born Again About?
Daredevil: Born Again is a direct continuation of the original Netflix series, Daredevil, which ran for three seasons between 2015 and 2018. Set several years after Daredevil Season 3, Born Again picks up with Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox), a blind lawyer with heightened abilities, as he continues his fight for justice through his bustling law firm. At the same time, former mob boss Wilson Fisk (Vincent D’Onofrio) pursues his own political endeavors in New York. When their past identities begin to emerge, both men find themselves on an inevitable collision course.
In addition to Cox and D’Onofrio, returning cast members for the Marvel Cinematic Universe series include Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page, Elden Henson as Franklin “Foggy” Nelson, and Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle/The Punisher, among others.
The second season of Daredevil: Born Again will consist of nine episodes, completing the 18-episode count that was originally handed to the show back when it was first announced by Marvel Studios as one super-sized season.
Daredevil: Born Again premieres with its first two episodes on Disney+ on March 4, 2025.
