Disney Working on a Live-Action ‘Rapunzel’ Movie

Another day, another Disney live-action remake gets announced.

The DisInsider is reporting that Disney is developing a live-action Rapunzel movie. There has been no word on if the film will be based on Disney’s Tangled franchise that started in 2010.

Ashleigh Powell (The Nutcracker and the Four Realms) Is writing the script and a search for the film’s director is currently underway. The film will reportedly be released theatrically, instead of heading straight to Disney+.

Tangled was a hit with audiences and critics alike and grossed over $590 million at the worldwide box office back in 2010. At the time, it was the most successful Disney animated feature film since The Lion King. In fact, it is widely considered to be the start of the Disney Revival, a term used to represent Disney’s return to making commercially successful animated films.

It was only a matter of time before Disney began remaking its most recent animated features. So if that’s the case… how about we get started on a live-action Moana film and bring back Auliʻi Cravalho and Dwayne Johnson as the leads. Come on Disney, you know you want to.
