Florence Pugh is in negotiations to join Dune: Part Two.
Yup, you’ve heard me correctly. According to Deadline, its sources state that Pugh is in talks to play Princess Irulan Corrino, the eldest daughter to Emperor Shaddam Corrino IV, in the sequel to last year’s Dune.
Pugh is currently filming Christopher Nolan’s anticipated Oppenheimer, and recently finished The Wonder for Netflix. She also joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe last year as Natasha Romanoff’s sister, Yelena, in Black Widow, a role she would reprise a few months later in Hawkeye.
Warner Bros. and Legendary‘s Dune: Part Two is currently in pre-production. In the article, Deadline also mentions that Timothée Chalamet, Rebecca Ferguson, Zendaya, and Josh Brolin would be reprising their roles from the first film in the sequel. I thought I remembered Brolin’s character dying, but I guess we never actually saw what happened to him. Director, producer and co-screenwriter Denis Villeneuve will also, naturally, be back.
Production on Dune: Part Two is expected to start in the fall. The film will hit theaters on October 20, 2023.
What do you think of Florence Pugh as Princess Irulan? Do you think it could work?
