Disney has released the official trailer for Frozen II, and while I think the teaser released earlier this year was way better, this one showcases more of the action and mystery set to unfold in the sequel.
I like Frozen. It’s a fun film that definitely benefits from its smart writing, catchy songs, and Olaf. Yes, I may dislike Josh Gad’s live-action work, but Olaf is half the reason I wanted to watch Frozen. He’s like the Dobby of Frozen, and I mean that in the most serious, awesome way.
However, I originally had no interest in Frozen II until the first teaser came out in February. Elsa running across the water as “the storm raged on” (*a-wink*) with that ominous musical score playing in the background immediately caught my interest. It looked like the franchise was dipping its toes into some darker, more grown-up storytelling. Which makes sense, considering it will be six years since the original and most of the original audience will be in their early teens.
There’s rumors that Frozen II will introduce other humans with magical powers associated with the remaining seasons (Spring, Summer and Fall), and further rumors claim that Elsa’s mother could be one of them (and that she’s also not dead). We’ll see what’s true later this year.
Plot Synopsis:
Frozen II hits theaters November 22, 2019.
