“There can only be one” and his name is Henry Cavill.
Cavill is in talks one of the lead roles in a reboot of the Highlander franchise. The new instalment in the popular ’80s and ’90s fantasy franchise will be directed by Chad Stahelski (John Wick), who signed on to direct back in 2016.
The original Highlander premiered in 1986 and featured performances by Christopher Lambert and Sean Connery. The basic premise of that film is that Lambert’s Connor MacLeod is resurrected and discovers that he is immortal due to the “Quickening” and will live forever so long as no one beheads him. The film spawned a franchise that currently consists of six films and three television series.
A Highlander reboot has been in some form of development since 2008. With Cavill and Stahelski on board is this the best chance this reboot has of getting made? I guess time will tell.
