Inde Navarrette‘s star is on the rise.
After achieving global recognition for her breakout role in the 2026 horror hit Obsession, Marvel Studios tapped Navarrette to play Rogue in its X-Men reboot. At the time, many assumed that X-Men would prevent the actor from signing on to Michael Mann’s Heat sequel, which she had reportedly passed on.
But there’s more to the story.
Last week, Nexus Point News reported that the door isn’t closed yet for Navarrette and Heat 2. The actor remains in consideration for the role of Gabriella.
Navarrette had recently told Nylon that she wanted to collaborate with Mann, so her passing on Heat 2 (which could very well be his last movie) for X-Men was a bit of a head-scratcher.
However, Navarrette isn’t the only new name circling Heat 2. Nexus Point News claims that Eiza González is in consideration for the role of Elisa, while Odessa Young is being eyed for the role of Charlene, previously played by Ashley Judd.
So far, the only actors confirmed for Heat 2 are Leonardo DiCaprio as Chris Shiherlis, Christian Bale as Vincent Hanna, and Stephen Graham as a young Neil McCauley. Adam Driver is also in negotiations to play the villain, Wardell.
Heat 2 is slated to start shooting in November. Mann will write and direct the sequel for Amazon MGM Studios, which originated as a novel written by Mann and Meg Gardiner, released in 2022.
The book jumps between two time periods. The first follows Shiherlis, as he tries to evade the LAPD, and Hanna, following the bank robbery gone bad, which moves forward into new territory in the tri-border zone and Southeast Asia.
The second storyline takes readers back to Chicago in 1988, when McCauley, Shiherlis, and their high-line crew are taking scores on the West Coast, the U.S.-Mexico border, and in the Windy City. At the same time, Hanna is cutting his teeth as a rising star in the Chicago Police Department chasing an ultraviolent gang of home invaders. The fallout from McCauley’s scores and Hanna’s pursuit cause unexpected repercussions in a parallel narrative.
