Jamie Foxx in Final Talks to Return as Electro for ‘Spider-Man 3’

Here’s some news that is truly shocking (*a-wink*).

THR reports that Jamie Foxx is in advanced talks to appear as the Spider-Man villain Electro in Tom Holland’s upcoming third solo outing Spider-Man 3.

If Foxx signs on, he would be reprising the role he originated in the Andrew Garfield-Spidey film The Amazing Spider-Man 2. He would be the second actor after J.K. Simmons to return for a Spider-Man film after starring in a different iteration of the franchise.

Marvel had no comment. Personally, this is a crazy idea, but one I’m not completely against. Electro was extremely dumb in TASM2, but none of that was Foxx’s fault. If they ditch the stupid “it’s my birthday” crap and actually make Foxx’s Electro into a compelling villain I’d be done.

Although, I must say that I hope this isn’t some ridiculous multiverse crossover where Foxx’s TASM2 Electro enters the MCU because no thank you to that. I just want Foxx to play the same character but the MCU’s version.

There’s been rumors that Spider-Man 3 will introduce the Sinister Six, the Spidey villain team. So there’s a chance Marvel and Sony want to bring back villains audiences are familiar with. If that’s the case, how about bringing Thomas Haden Church back for another shot at Sandman. You can’t get more accurate than that casting.

What do you think about Foxx getting another shot at playing Electro? Smart or shockingly stupid?
