Jeff Nichols to Write and Direct ‘A Quiet Place 3’

Per Deadline, Jeff Nichols (Midnight Special) is set to write and direct the third film in the A Quiet Place franchise. The idea for the third film came from franchise creator John Krasinski. Plot details are currently under wraps.

There is speculation that the A Quiet Place 3 will expand the world introduced in the first two films and feature new characters interacting with the all-hearing monsters. It’s possible this film came from the idea Krasinski previously hinted at:

“I had this very small idea, and what it was is that this is a world you can play in, this isn’t just a character to remake or a group of characters or a story. It’s actually a world, which is a whole different, very unique experience. It’s something we feel very lucky to have. It’s not like Alien or Jaws where the main villain is the thing you’re repeating; it’s an actual entire set of rules and the circumstance that the world has undergone that you can play in very different facets.”

A Quiet Place 3 would mark Nichols’ first foray into blockbuster filmmaking. The director has previously gifted the world with gems such as MudTake ShelterMidnight Special, and Loving. Michael Shannon has frequently appeared in Nichols’ films, so fans were quick to suggest the actor appearing in the film.

A Quiet Place Part II was supposed to hit theaters earlier this year, but the COVID-19 pandemic ended up delaying it to April 23, 2021. A Quiet Place 3 is currently in development for a 2022 release.
