Liv Tyler Returning as Betty Ross for ‘Captain America: New World Order’

Liv Tyler is coming home back to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the actor will reprise her role as scientist Betty Ross in Captain America: New World Order, fifteen years after first playing the character in 2008’s The Incredible Hulk. She has already been spotted in set photos opposite Anthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson.

After years of being called “the black sheep of the MCU,” The Incredible Hulk is finally becoming an important part of the franchise. It began in 2016 when the late William Hurt reprised his role as General Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross in Captain America: Civil War, followed by Tim Roth coming back as the Abomination for Shang-Chi and She-Hulk: Attorney at Law.

However, Captain America: New World Order will serve up the largest Incredible Hulk reunion yet. In addition to Tyler’s Betty Ross, Tim Blake Nelson will appear as the Leader alongside Harrison Ford, who is making his debut as the new “Thunderbolt” Ross (now reportedly the President of the United States).

Directed by Julius Onah, Captain America: New World Order opens in theaters on May 3, 2024.
