Things are finally heating up for Indiana Jones.
Deadline has reported that Mads Mikkelsen has joined the cast of Indiana Jones 5. The news follows closely on the heels of Phoebe Waller-Bridge being announced as the female lead on the project. Harrison Ford is, of course, back in the titular role.
James Mangold will direct while previous franchise director Steven Spielberg acts as a producer alongside Kathleen Kennedy, Frank Marshall and Simon Emanuel. John Williams will also return as composer.
It looks like everyone is falling into place for a summer production start. Mangold is continuing to meet with talent for other roles in the fifth instalment of the popular Lucasfilm franchise.
Plot details are still vague on where the fifth film will take Indy. We also have no word on who Mikkelsen will play. All we know is that Mikkelsen continues to check off franchise boxes faster than any other actor currently working right now. He’s already been in James Bond, the MCU, Star Wars, Hannibal, and has replaced Johnny Depp as the main baddie in the Wizarding World’s Fantastic Beasts franchise. All he has left to do after Indiana Jones 5 is land a gig in a DC film.
Indiana Jones 5 hits theaters July 29, 2022.
Who do you think Mikkelsen is playing in the sequel? Friend or foe?
