If you’ve been trying to watch Daredevil on Netflix this month you might have found yourself having some trouble locating the Marvel series. Well, sorry to break it to you (or maybe not because this news is old), but all the Marvel original series on Netflix have officially left the streaming service as of March 1st.
The affected series—Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, The Punisher, and The Defenders—as well as Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. (which originally ran on ABC for seven seasons) are all slated to begin streaming on Disney+ starting March 16, 2022.
On that date, Disney+ subscribers in the U.S. will be given a prompt to update their parental controls on the streaming service. This is likely because all the Marvel/Netflix shows carry a TV-MA rating (all other shows on Disney+ currently carry a TV-14 or lower rating), which sort of goes against Disney+ being a family friendly streaming service.
Of course, subscribers outside of the U.S. won’t have this issue since the streaming service has been carrying adult content since it became Disney+ Star at the beginning of 2021. But anyway, back to the States’ Disney+ app, users will be able to select content rating restrictions for each profile, in addition to adding a PIN to lock profiles.
It will be interesting to see if any of the seven shows end up on the official Marvel Cinematic Universe timeline Disney+ has on its service. Other ABC Marvel series like Agent Carter and The Inhumans as well as Hulu series The Runaways (available to Disney+ Star users) are currently not part of the timeline despite originally being marketed as part of the MCU.
Whatever happens, it will be nice to have almost all the Marvel content housed on one streaming service. As it will stand on March 16, fans will just need Disney+ and Hulu in the U.S. and Disney+ Star for non-U.S. subscribers. I know I can’t wait to dive into this properties again later this month.
Are you happy that all the Marvel series will be housed under one streaming service? Are you surprised the Netflix shows didn’t move to Hulu? Do you think this means the series might get revived and officially become part of the MCU? Tell us what you think down in the comments!
