Two years after wrapping production, Stuntnuts will finally be screened.
According to Deadline, Stuntnuts will have a first market screening at the American Film Market, where it’ll be on sale with Legendary’s 193. Hopefully, someone will want to buy Stuntnuts and actually put it in theaters, which would cap off what can only be described as a bizarre production history for the action-comedy film.
Let’s rewind, shall we? Stuntnuts was originally teased as Vram in January 2024. A month later, it was officially revealed as The Stuntman, with production kicking off. Matthew Vaughn produced the movie, while Damien Walters directed it.
Stuntnuts follows “two gifted stunt performers who take jobs on a massive Hollywood blockbuster in a desperate bid to save their community gym. But as the production spirals spectacularly out of control, fueled by increasingly dangerous stunts and the dueling egos of its leading men, Thor star Chris Hemsworth and Oscar winner Sam Rockwell (playing hilariously heightened versions of themselves), saving the gym may prove to be the least of their problems.”
Back in 2024, Stuntnuts was being referred to by Vaughn as the second entry in a trilogy of films that would be connected to his Kick-Ass duology. Well, at some point, Stuntnuts became the first entry, while School Fight, the original first entry, was retitled Stuntnuts Does School Fight, and is now set to be released after Stuntnuts. These two movies would then lead into Kick-Ass 3. What does Stuntnuts have to do with Kick-Ass? I have no clue. Why is it so unnecessarily confusing? Again, I have no clue.
Anyway, Stuntnuts is the first film to emerge from Vaughn and soccer megastar Cristiano Ronaldo‘s film and TV joint venture UR MARV and will mark the latter’s first movie producing credit. Starring alongside Hemsworth and Rockwell are stunt artists Bobby Holland Hanton, Hemsworth’s regular double; Greg Townley, double for Tom Holland in Spider-Man; Paul Lowe, of the Harry Potter and Game of Thrones franchises; and Haruka Oshima, of No Time to Die and The Matrix franchise. Matt Damon will also make a “fun cameo” in the movie, as will John Cena and Benson Boone.
