It looks like Oscar Isaac will be busy for the next few years.
In addition to playing the lead in Moon Knight and The Great Machine, Deadline reports that Isaac has just been cast as Solid Snake in the upcoming Metal Gear Solid movie. This is wish fulfillment at its finest as Isaac mentioned wanting to play the role back in 2019. Last year he stated, “Metal Gear Solid, that’s the one I’m – yeah. I’m throwing my hat in for that one.”
Director Jordan Vogt-Roberts obviously liked that idea, and I certainly do too. Isaac is quickly becoming one of my favorite actors, and I’m excited to see him as Solid Snake (and Moon Knight).
So who is Solid Snake? Well, he’s “a former Green Beret and highly skilled special operations soldier engaged in solo stealth and espionage missions in a deeply unusual science fiction world.”
There’s no word on when we might see Metal Gear Solid on the big screen, but given Isaac’s busy schedule it could be a few years. I would wager that Moon Knight and The Great Machine will shoot first.
