According to THR, Universal Pictures has slotted The Invisible Man for March 13, 2020. Shooting is set to begin in Sydney, Australia this july.
The original story from May 15, 2019 follows.
A couple of updates on The Invisible Man remake currently brewing over at Universal with producer Jason Blum. First, actress Storm Reid (A Wrinkle in Time) has joined Elisabeth Moss as part of the cast. Second, in the Deadline article, plot info relating to the remake was released alongside the casting.
Plot Synopsis:
Let’s take a moment to read between the lines. The ex-boyfriend isn’t dead, he’s invisible. And now he’s being a prick and stalking the poor girl. It’s a pretty cool twist to the story that will see the film deal with some pretty relevant themes like toxic masculinity.
Circling back around to the casting, Reid will be playing a character named Sydney. Here’s her character description:
“With her mother gone, she’s picked up the maternal slack and is capable and mature for her age. She’s an outgoing lover of fashion who aspires to see the world, and she initially likes having Cecilia around as a role model, but grows mistrustful of her when strange things begin to happen around the house.“
Sounds like The Invisible Man still has a few tricks up his sleeve. With Blum behind the project, I think everyone can rest assured that he will deliver something refreshing and exciting.
Are you happy that Jason Blum has gotten his hands on The Invisible Man? Do you think he can salvage the Universal Monsters and their Dark Universe?
