‘Dark Phoenix’ Clips Feature a Standoff, Quicksilver, and a Chopper

20th Century Fox/Disney has been releasing clips from Dark Phoenix over the last week. Enjoy three scenes from the last (major) X-Men film: “New York Standoff”, “Quicksilver Saves Shuttle Crew” and “Chopper Fight”.

I’ve been going back-and-forth on whether or not to see Dark Phoenix in theaters. On one hand, the only X-Men films I saw in theaters were Deadpool and Logan, but on the other it’s a chance to see this franchise end on the big screen. First Class and Days of Future Past are two of my favorite X-Men films, and I wouldn’t mind seeing this era of the cast come to a close.

Michael Fassbender has absolutely killed it as a young Magneto, and he is the biggest draw for me. He brings a gravitas to the character that somehow manages to supersede Ian McKellen’s original take.

Plot Synopsis:

This is the story of one of the X-Men’s most beloved characters, Jean Grey, as she evolves into the iconic DARK PHOENIX. During a life-threatening rescue mission in space, Jean is hit by a cosmic force that transforms her into one of the most powerful mutants of all. Wrestling with this increasingly unstable power as well as her own personal demons, Jean spirals out of control, tearing the X-Men family apart and threatening to destroy the very fabric of our planet. The film is the most intense and emotional X-Men movie ever made. It is the culmination of 20 years of X-Men movies, as the family of mutants that we’ve come to know and love must face their most devastating enemy yet — one of their own.

Dark Phoenix hits theaters June 7, 2019.
