Power Rankings: Best Unadapted Stephen King Stories

The SAW Power Rankings is our weekly ranking of a certain movie-related topic. Please feel free to comment on our rankings and provide a list of your own in the comments below.

Stephen King has written a lot of novels, novellas, short stories, anthologies, you name it. A lot has been adapted, but a lot also hasn’t. So this week’s Power Rankings is about shining a light on those stories that haven’t seen a film or TV adaptation. And yes, Sailor (and to a lesser extent Dhalgren) is breaking the rules. I’ll let him explain his reasoning in the comments.

Marmaduke Karlston

  1. Later
  2. Joyland
  3. Billy Summers
  4. Gwendy’s Button Box Trilogy
  5. Mile 81

Sailor Monsoon

  1. The Regulators
  2. Rage
  3. The Long Walk
  4. The Running Man
  5. The Dark Tower

Billy Dhalgren

  1. The Regulators
  2. The Long Walk
  3. The Gunslinger
  4. The Eyes of the Dragon
  5. “The Slow Mutants”

Bob Cram

  1. The Talisman
  2. “One for the Road” from Night Shift
  3. “Morning Deliveries”/”Big Wheels: A Tale of the Laundry Game” (Milkman #1 and #2) from Skeleton Crew
  4. From a Buick 8
  5. The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon

Romona Comet

  1. “Rat”
  2. Duma Key
  3. Joyland
  4. Gwendy’s Button Box Trilogy
  5. Billy Summers

There are a couple of repeats above. Joyland and The Regulators seem pretty high up on the lists. Are you listening, Hollywood? Adapt these stories!
