Variety reports that Sylvester Stallone will be attending the Cannes Film Festival, revealing a montage of the man’s fifty-year film and television career as well as showcase the world premiere of Ted Kotcheff’s Rambo: First Blood in 4K at the Grand Théâtre Lumière.
He will also introduce the first look at Rambo V: Last Blood, directed by Adrian Grunberg (second unit and assistant director credits on Jack Reacher: Never Go Back, Apocalypto, Narcos) and will co-star Paz Vega, Oscar Jaenada, Adriana Barraza, Yvette Monreal, Sergio Peris-Mencheta and Joaquín Cosío.
Well, this has been a long time coming; with the generally well-received Rambo (2008) a lot of ideas have obviously been passed around over the years (like the time Stallone courted the notion that Rambo should fight a genetic mutant).
Here’s a best case scenario on how that might’ve played out, somehow
But something tells me that this will bring things back down to earth, where strangely enough, the character actually gets to shine the brightest. The title sure seems to imply a direct link with the tragic drama that was the heart of First Blood but will the story have a satisfying conclusion for the franchise?
