It’s a great time to be a Reacher fan.
Per The Hollywood Reporter, Prime Video announced today that it has renewed Reacher for a sixth season. The renewal comes just 12 days after Season 4 ended. A fifth season has been filming in Toronto since July.
An early Season 6 pickup isn’t too surprising, since Prime Video has made it a habit to renew the show months ahead of the next season’s premiere. However, this time around, the renewal is coming just four months after the Season 5 pickup, which is a record for the show (and possibly the streamer).
With the renewal, Reacher ties Invincible as Prime Video’s second longest-running scripted series behind Bosch, which ran for seven seasons. Alan Ritchson, who headlines Reacher as its title character, has made it known that he wants the show to last at least 10 seasons, which would make it Prime Video’s longest-running scripted series.

What Lee Child has built and [showrunner] Nick Santora and his creative teams have brought to life is, simply, incredible,” said Peter Friedlander, head of global television Amazon MGM Studios. “Alan Ritchson is Jack Reacher — he’s delivered a performance that has captivated audiences around the world. Reacher is a truly iconic series, and we’re thrilled to be on the ride with this extraordinary cast and crew for season six.”
The upcoming fifth season is adapting Lee Child’s Make Me, the 20th book in the Jack Reacher series. There’s no word yet on the source material for Season 6, although there are plenty of great options. If you’re looking for a fan’s opinion, Prime Video, I think the third and fourth books, Tripwire and Running Blind, would make for a great two-season arc for Ritchson’s Jack Reacher. At the very least, it would shake up the show’s formula a bit.
The first four seasons of Reacher and its spinoff Neagley are available to stream on Prime Video. The fifth season is expected to premiere in 2027.
